New Feature: Ask AI in Notes

Every note in Cognia now has its own AI assistant built right into the editor.

Open the sidebar, ask questions about your content, get explanations, or have it break down complex topics, all without leaving your note.

How It Works

Click the AI bubble icon in the bottom-right corner of any note. A chat sidebar slides open on the right side of the editor.

The AI automatically reads the full content of your note, so it already knows what you are studying. Just type your question and it responds in real time with formatted answers including bullet points, tables, headings, code blocks, and more.

You can also highlight specific text in your note before opening the sidebar. The highlighted passage appears as a quoted reference, so the AI knows exactly which part you are asking about.

What You Can Do With It

Ask anything about your note. The AI understands the full context of what is on the page. Ask it to explain a concept, clarify a section, or connect ideas across your note. Break down difficult sections. Highlight a confusing paragraph and ask the AI to explain it in simpler terms or give you an analogy. Summarise quickly. If you have a long, detailed note, ask for a concise summary of the key points.

When the chat is empty, you will see suggested prompts to get started:

Conversation History

Each note has its own separate chat history.

Close the sidebar and reopen it and your conversation is still there. Navigate away from the note and come back and it picks up where you left off.

Different notes keep different conversations. Your biology discussion stays with your biology note. Your economics chat stays with economics.

Hit the Clear button any time to start fresh.

Highlight and Ask

Select any text in your note, then open the sidebar. The selected passage appears as a reference card above the input box.

This lets you ask precise questions like:

"Explain this formula"
"Why is this concept important?"
"Simplify this paragraph"
"How does this relate to the section above?"

No need to copy-paste or describe what you are looking at.

Resizable Sidebar

The sidebar has a draggable handle on its left edge. Pull it to resize the panel between 300px and 700px wide.

Want more room for your note? Shrink the panel. Deep in a back-and-forth with the AI? Expand it. You control the layout.

Pro and Max subscribers are automatically upgraded to GPT-5.2 for deeper, more detailed answers

Free users have a daily limit of 10 messages across all chat features. When the limit is reached, you will see an option to upgrade.

Ask AI is available on any standalone note page. Open a note and the AI icon appears in the bottom-right corner, ready to go.
